Ms. Shilpa Nagaraj

Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist and Supervisor
MSc and MPhil in Clinical Psychology

Shilpa Nagaraj is a licensed Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist, and supervisor with a Masters and MPhil in Clinical Psychology and over a decade of experience working with adults. Her approach is relational and attachment-based and she's especially drawn to questions of epistemic trust and mistrust, how they shape whether someone can actually let change happen. She is an MBT practitioner, completed Advanced training in Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) and her MBT Supervisor Training at the Anna Freud Centre under Prof Anthony Bateman and and works comfortably with CBT and DBT (skills training) frameworks as well.

She specializes in working with adults experiencing personality vulnerabilities, complex trauma, mood and stress-related difficulties. She co-facilitates MBT groups for people with BPD/complex trauma and leads supervision groups as well as individual supervisees across disciplines. Each year, she also designs and runs clinical skills workshops for practitioners. Earlier in her career, she worked in in-patient and out-patient settings with substance use and severe psychiatric disorders, including a collaboration with the UK's NHS on a de-addiction module, as well as outpatient work with children and adolescents.

She currently sees adults with BPD and complex trauma in individual and group therapy, and with an active interest in psychotherapy process research. As Community Outreach Lead, she designs and co-moderates the book and movie clubs and helps drive outreach and workshops on mental health and wellness.
