Devanshi Goradia, a licensed clinical psychologist and registered couple and individual
psychotherapist with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), hails from Mumbai. Fluent
in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, and English, she pursued her M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology
from Rajiv Gandhi University, Bangalore, and her M.Phil. from the Postgraduate Institute
of Mental and Behavioural Sciences in Raipur. Certified by the Tata Institute of Social
Sciences (TISS Mumbai) in family and couples therapy, she expanded her skills in family
systems therapy by training at The Bower Place (Australia).
Her therapeutic approach is process-oriented and integrative of narrative practices,
trauma-focused, systemic family therapy, and transactional analysis. She frequently
draws upon the crucial therapeutic techniques of dialectic behavioral approaches,
rational emotive behavioral approaches, and cognitive behavioral approaches in her
psychotherapy.
She has been trained in queer affirmative counseling as part of her training curriculum
provided by Mariwala Health Initiative and is undertaking the Emotion-Focused Therapy
experiential training program.
With over five years of professional experience, she has worked extensively with
individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds, including providing interventions for
adolescents in Dharavi, a densely populated suburb in Mumbai.
One of her areas of expertise includes intimate partner violence (also known as
domestic violence). Devanshi has worked with the Ministry of Women and Children,
Government of India, and NIMHANS, Bangalore, to train counselors from one-stop
centers across India, focusing on supporting women in situations of violence.
Additionally, she has served as an external facilitator for a workshop conducted by
Project StreeManoraksha at NIMHANS.
In the realm of academia, Devanshi has contributed as a lecturer for the MA in
counseling psychology program at SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. She has also
been invited as an external facilitator for undergraduate students at Christ University,
Bangalore.
Her professional interests encompass women’s mental health, family and couple
dynamics, personality disorders, trauma, and intimate partner violence. She is dedicated
to advancing research in these areas.
